Do I need to upgrade my fuse box?
The fuse box (or consumer unit) is the heart of your electrical installation and protects all the different circuits from overloading the wiring. There a several reasons why your fuse box may be in need of an upgrade:
- The increase in the use of electrical appliances puts a strain on older fuse boxes. So if yours is older than 10 years, it may well be time for a change.
- If your are planning a house extension, loft conversion or addtional power to your garage
- Additonal Safety - Modern fuseboxes incorporate RCD's (Residual Current Device) This is a safety device that trips out when a circuit overloads, thus protecting the wiring and householders from electrical shocks.
